Winter tradition in an authentic wilderness lodge and two days dog sledding

The first part of the week, you will stay in an exclusive authentic lodge in the middle of the woods, it was built by two English lawyers and flyfishers around 1900 and has been recently restaured in it's original state. It's now also protected heritage. With the help of your guides you will enjoy wilderness like English gentlemen did in the 1900's : firing the stoves, sawing, working with axes, melting water and discover the surrounding river, lake and hills on snow shoes and cross country skis. The second part of the week you will stay at the home of a professional musher, competitor and enjoy the stay in a traditional Norwegian farm and dog sledding.

Day 1: Arrival at the guestfarm, packing everything in the pulka and crossing the lake to the wilderness hut.
Day 2: Winter bush craft: survival techniques, wood for the stoves and water for cooking and washing
Day 3: Snow shoeing to a summit with amazing views
Day 4: Cross country ski : initiation in the morning, tour in beautiful landscapes in the afternoon
Day 5: Cross country ski, snowshoe tour or resting day
Day 6: Back to the civilization, transfer to the musher’s guestfarm, dogsled initiation

Why Norway, why Hedmark?

The area is one of the last pieces of wilderness in Europe. Tourism is not very present. Snow scooters are forbidden for leisure, you can therefore enjoy the silence and the wide virgin highlands twice more. The guest farm where you stay for one of our programs welcomes guests since 1900. Tradition and authenticity can be smelled in each room. The English-speaking guides, know the area very well and have been guiding groups in the middle of the nature here winter and summer for more than 10 years now.

This is the most southern part of SAPMI ( Lapland), land of the Sami (Laps). Several herds of reindeer and their 'shepherds' live here. This is also
a place where bears (sleeping in the winter), wolves, lynx, wolverines, moose, cranes, foxes and marters or their tracks can be seen.

We have chosen authentic, non-motorized means of transportation : dog sledges, snowshoes and Nordic ski. With the dog sledges, we can enjoy the big stretches of nature, the contact with the animals. On snow shoes, we look for moose tracks or head for the tops. Nordic ski is the absolute Norwegian winter sport.
